October 29, 2016

0700 hrs. Daylight Run. Campus Loop. Game Day Bliss. Out the door before the sunlight hit the olive oil, but managed to sleep in a bit prior to hitting the pavement. A beautiful Autumn day for a maintenance run through familiar territory. Temperature was a manageable 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) with 80% relative humidity. Completed the 5.34 miles in 50:14 for a sub-sonic 9:25 min/mile average pace. A pedestrian 13.39 miles for the week. Mahalo.

October 27, 2016

0545 hrs. Campus Loop. Dawn Patrol. Hit the trail with a coolish 14 degrees Celsius (58 degrees Fahrenheit) temp and Marine Layer Fog that stuck around and continued to wreak havoc on the metro area until around 1000 am. Drive times and commutes were completely fucked. My morning run was absolutely chill, though. Completed the 4.03 miles in 38:17 for a pedestrian 9:30 min/mile average pace. Felt good from beginning to end. No runners on the trail for a few days now. Makes you go hmmmm. Solid run. Will try to extend on Saturday. Mahalo.

October 25, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurated another week of fun with an early morning run through familiar environs. Temps are creeping upwards, yet again, and it may be a few days before they recede. Hit the trail to 17 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit) and high humidity. Completed the go-to 4.02 mile loop in 38:23 for a 9:33 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

October 22, 2016

0800 hrs. Daylight Run. Campus Loop. Autumn temperatures (47 degrees Fahrenheit, 8 degrees Celsius) returned for this morning's run; a slight Southern breeze kept things nice and cool. Headed East to the Jenkins Portal and onward to China Town and the South Campus. Cut over at the far Southern perimeter and returned to the shack through the South Greek and Main Campus. Layered up with long-sleeves, gloves and a soft-shell, which, once again, was probably a bit over the top. Felt slow and sluggish from the onset. Most likely due to the copious amounts of Jameson's that I consumed last evening. Completed the 6.38 miles in 1:04:28 for a sub-sonic 10:07 min/mile average pace with consistent splits. Another low-mileage effort (14.45 miles or 23.25 km) on three runs for the week. Mahalo.

October 20, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Autumn weather returns with the temperature this AM a cool 14 degrees Celsius (58 degrees Fahrenheit) and the relative humidity at 40%. A fairly sustained North breeze helped, as well. Long-sleeves and shorts. Started and finished with decent splits. Completed the 4.04 miles (6.5 km) in 36:58 for a 9:10 min/mile pace, which, for this author, is a nice clip. Mahalo.

October 18, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Record heat in the middle part of the republic means that the AM runs are back to summer temps and humidity levels. Some relief is on the way with an impending cold front due to arrive in 24-hours or so. This morning's run was met with temps around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Fahrenheit) with 50% relative humidity. Once again a steady breeze from the South kept things somewhat cool. Inaugurated another week of running with an abridged campus loop. Completed the 4.03 miles in 37:49 for a 9:24 min/mile average pace. Felt good from start to finish. Mahalo.

October 15, 2016

0630 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Game Day. Inaugurated a new pair of New Balance 1260 V6 shoes, which, in the scheme of things, is always good times. Cool temps, but nothing like earlier in the week; in fact, the long-sleeves were a bit much due to the high humidity. Headed out to overcast skies, 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Centigrade) and 90% humidity; a steady Southern breeze helped keep things cool-ish. Traffic was a bit much, as the Sooners kicked off at 1100 hrs and the early-birds, professional tailgaters and assorted fiends began descending on Norman before the sun breached the horizon. Completed the 6.01 miles in 58:58 for an average pace of 9:49 min/mile. Uneventful and somewhat awkward in new shoes (like running in clogs). A mere 14.07 miles for the week on three runs. Mahalo.

October 13, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Cool temps persist: 49 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius) with a slight breeze from the South. Long-sleeves, gloves and a soft-shell for shits and giggles. We are at that time of year when it is probably unnecessary to layer up and utilize added accessories, but it feels so good when running in the crisp air after a long summer of heat and humidity. Solid run from start to finish, even as I was 90-seconds slower than Tuesday's effort. Completed the 4.03 miles (6.5 km) in 39:26 for a 9:47 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

October 11, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another cool, Autumn morning (55 degrees Fahrenheit, 12 degrees Celsius) with a steady South breeze. Inaugurating another week of running with an abridged loop through familiar environs. Long-sleeves and shorts. Completed the 4.03 miles in 37:59 for a 9:26 min/miles average pace. Strong from beginning to end. Mahalo.

October 8, 2016

0815 hrs. Daylight. Campus Loop. Awoke to the coolest temps of Autumn, 2016 thus far (43 degrees Fahrenheit, 6 degrees Celsius) and insignificant relative humidity (60%). A slight North breeze helped cool things off. Headed to campus through the Elm Portal and then crossed Highway 9, looped back to Jenkins and finished by way of the Eastern Front. Felt great to run in the cool, crisp October air. Long-sleeves, gloves and a soft shell to get me through. Completed the 7.14 miles (11.4 km) in 1:13:31 for a 10:18 min/mile average pace. Two runs for 12.14 miles (19.5 km) this week to ease back into my routine after nine-days off. New shoes this week, as I'm running on spent sleds at this stage of the game (412 miles, 663 km). Mahalo.

October 4, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Back in the proverbial game after a self-imposed nine-day respite for rest and relaxation purposes. Inaugurated another month of quality runs with temps in the mid-60s (66 degrees Fahrenheit, 19 Celsius) and 80% relative humidity. Another beautiful, cool Autumn morning for running. Completed the 5.00 miles in 50:02 for a 10:00 min/mile average pace. Sub-sonic and sluggish throughout. But, good to be back on the trail. Mahalo.
