December 6, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Frigid (31 degrees Fahrenheit, -.5 degrees Celsius) with a super-strong North wind that made the return leg of the run a bit uncomfortable. First run of December after taking a week off to wallow in the mire and drink Jameson like it was my job. Layered up like a fiend and felt over-dressed on the Southern portion of the run. Things got serious a couple of miles from the shack when I turned back North in a futile attempt to get back home unscathed. Completed the 4.00 miles in 39:23 for a chilly 9:51 min/mile pace. It's never too cold for a run. "But it's getting harder to describe sailors to the underfed..." Mahalo.

November 29, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurated another week of quality running with an abridged four-mile maintenance run. Cool and Windy: 48 degrees Fahrenheit (9 Celsius) with a strong breeze out of the South. Long-sleeves and shorts. Completed the 4.28 miles in 41:44 for a 9:45 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, November 26, 2016

November 26, 2016

0700 hrs. Daylight Bliss. Campus Loop. Season's first sub-freezing run: temp 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 Celsius) with an almost negligible wind from the North. A beautiful, cold, still morning. Layered up with tights, long-sleeves, running jacket, gloves and a soft shell. Extended the go-to route to the Southern Perimeter before heading back North through China Town and the University environs. Completed the 6.62 miles in 1:07:41 for a sub-sonic 10:13 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

November 22, 2016

0600 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Out the door after another long-weekend sans run. Hit the pavement to relatively cool temps (57 degrees Fahrenheit, 14 degrees Celsius) and a nice Southern breeze that kept things manageable. Another 4.05 miles completed in 39:14 for a sub-sonic 9:42 average pace. Yet again, the promise of cold weather (mid to low-30s) looms. Mahalo.

Thursday, November 17, 2016

November 17, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. A balmy, Spring-like morning with 60 degree (16 Celsius) temps and a strong South breeze. Word on the street is that a cold front is on the way, which could make the weekend runs interesting. Long-sleeves and shorts for today's go-to maintenance run. Completed the 4.07 miles in 39:15 for a 9:38 average pace. Mahalo

Tuesday, November 15, 2016

November 15, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Awoke to a nice Autumn chill: 9 degrees Celsius, 48 degrees Fahrenheit. Layered up with long sleeves, gloves and soft shell for shits and giggles. Back in the game after taking the weekend off...again. Completed the 4.17 miles in a slowish 40:33 for a sub-sonic 9:44 min/mile average pace. Winter weather looms. Mahalo.

Thursday, November 10, 2016

November 11, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Cool, almost cold weather finally arrived this morning. Temps a semi-cold 40 degrees (4 degrees Celsius) and no wind. Layered up with tights, long-sleeves, gloves and a soft shell. Solid 4.25 mile campus loop completed in 40:38 for an average pace of 9:33 min/mile. Absolutely beautiful Autumn run through familiar environs. Mahalo.

Monday, November 7, 2016

November 7, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Cool temps (15 degrees Celsius, 60 degrees Fahrenheit) and a slight Northern breeze. Long-sleeves and shorts. A solid, abridged maintenance run through the campus. Completed the 4.28 miles in 42:36 for a slowish 9:58 min/mile average pace. Rain and cooler temps on the horizon. Mahalo.

Saturday, November 5, 2016

November 3, 2016

0545 am. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Hit the road in the pre-dawn hours for one of the last times before Daylight Saving ends. Temp was a coolish 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) with humidity at 90%. Completed the 4.17 miles in 41:!2 for a sub-sonic 9:53 min/mile pace. I continue to wait for the cold weather to arrive! Nothing like running in the 0 degree Celsius range. Mahalo.

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

November 1, 2016

0540 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurated another month of running with today's five-miler. Outstanding Autumn morning for running: a nice 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) with 85% humidity. It's amazing to think that I am running in shorts and muscle shirts on the first day of November. In Oklahoma. Completed the 5.01 miles in 48:22 for a sub-sonic 9:39 min/mile average pace. BRIs added unnecessary drama and fear to the run. Barely made it home. Mahalo.

Saturday, October 29, 2016

October 29, 2016

0700 hrs. Daylight Run. Campus Loop. Game Day Bliss. Out the door before the sunlight hit the olive oil, but managed to sleep in a bit prior to hitting the pavement. A beautiful Autumn day for a maintenance run through familiar territory. Temperature was a manageable 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) with 80% relative humidity. Completed the 5.34 miles in 50:14 for a sub-sonic 9:25 min/mile average pace. A pedestrian 13.39 miles for the week. Mahalo.

Thursday, October 27, 2016

October 27, 2016

0545 hrs. Campus Loop. Dawn Patrol. Hit the trail with a coolish 14 degrees Celsius (58 degrees Fahrenheit) temp and Marine Layer Fog that stuck around and continued to wreak havoc on the metro area until around 1000 am. Drive times and commutes were completely fucked. My morning run was absolutely chill, though. Completed the 4.03 miles in 38:17 for a pedestrian 9:30 min/mile average pace. Felt good from beginning to end. No runners on the trail for a few days now. Makes you go hmmmm. Solid run. Will try to extend on Saturday. Mahalo.

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

October 25, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurated another week of fun with an early morning run through familiar environs. Temps are creeping upwards, yet again, and it may be a few days before they recede. Hit the trail to 17 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit) and high humidity. Completed the go-to 4.02 mile loop in 38:23 for a 9:33 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, October 22, 2016

October 22, 2016

0800 hrs. Daylight Run. Campus Loop. Autumn temperatures (47 degrees Fahrenheit, 8 degrees Celsius) returned for this morning's run; a slight Southern breeze kept things nice and cool. Headed East to the Jenkins Portal and onward to China Town and the South Campus. Cut over at the far Southern perimeter and returned to the shack through the South Greek and Main Campus. Layered up with long-sleeves, gloves and a soft-shell, which, once again, was probably a bit over the top. Felt slow and sluggish from the onset. Most likely due to the copious amounts of Jameson's that I consumed last evening. Completed the 6.38 miles in 1:04:28 for a sub-sonic 10:07 min/mile average pace with consistent splits. Another low-mileage effort (14.45 miles or 23.25 km) on three runs for the week. Mahalo.

Thursday, October 20, 2016

October 20, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Autumn weather returns with the temperature this AM a cool 14 degrees Celsius (58 degrees Fahrenheit) and the relative humidity at 40%. A fairly sustained North breeze helped, as well. Long-sleeves and shorts. Started and finished with decent splits. Completed the 4.04 miles (6.5 km) in 36:58 for a 9:10 min/mile pace, which, for this author, is a nice clip. Mahalo.

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

October 18, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Record heat in the middle part of the republic means that the AM runs are back to summer temps and humidity levels. Some relief is on the way with an impending cold front due to arrive in 24-hours or so. This morning's run was met with temps around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Fahrenheit) with 50% relative humidity. Once again a steady breeze from the South kept things somewhat cool. Inaugurated another week of running with an abridged campus loop. Completed the 4.03 miles in 37:49 for a 9:24 min/mile average pace. Felt good from start to finish. Mahalo.

Saturday, October 15, 2016

October 15, 2016

0630 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Game Day. Inaugurated a new pair of New Balance 1260 V6 shoes, which, in the scheme of things, is always good times. Cool temps, but nothing like earlier in the week; in fact, the long-sleeves were a bit much due to the high humidity. Headed out to overcast skies, 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Centigrade) and 90% humidity; a steady Southern breeze helped keep things cool-ish. Traffic was a bit much, as the Sooners kicked off at 1100 hrs and the early-birds, professional tailgaters and assorted fiends began descending on Norman before the sun breached the horizon. Completed the 6.01 miles in 58:58 for an average pace of 9:49 min/mile. Uneventful and somewhat awkward in new shoes (like running in clogs). A mere 14.07 miles for the week on three runs. Mahalo.

Thursday, October 13, 2016

October 13, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Cool temps persist: 49 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius) with a slight breeze from the South. Long-sleeves, gloves and a soft-shell for shits and giggles. We are at that time of year when it is probably unnecessary to layer up and utilize added accessories, but it feels so good when running in the crisp air after a long summer of heat and humidity. Solid run from start to finish, even as I was 90-seconds slower than Tuesday's effort. Completed the 4.03 miles (6.5 km) in 39:26 for a 9:47 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

October 11, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another cool, Autumn morning (55 degrees Fahrenheit, 12 degrees Celsius) with a steady South breeze. Inaugurating another week of running with an abridged loop through familiar environs. Long-sleeves and shorts. Completed the 4.03 miles in 37:59 for a 9:26 min/miles average pace. Strong from beginning to end. Mahalo.

Saturday, October 8, 2016

October 8, 2016

0815 hrs. Daylight. Campus Loop. Awoke to the coolest temps of Autumn, 2016 thus far (43 degrees Fahrenheit, 6 degrees Celsius) and insignificant relative humidity (60%). A slight North breeze helped cool things off. Headed to campus through the Elm Portal and then crossed Highway 9, looped back to Jenkins and finished by way of the Eastern Front. Felt great to run in the cool, crisp October air. Long-sleeves, gloves and a soft shell to get me through. Completed the 7.14 miles (11.4 km) in 1:13:31 for a 10:18 min/mile average pace. Two runs for 12.14 miles (19.5 km) this week to ease back into my routine after nine-days off. New shoes this week, as I'm running on spent sleds at this stage of the game (412 miles, 663 km). Mahalo.

Tuesday, October 4, 2016

October 4, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Back in the proverbial game after a self-imposed nine-day respite for rest and relaxation purposes. Inaugurated another month of quality runs with temps in the mid-60s (66 degrees Fahrenheit, 19 Celsius) and 80% relative humidity. Another beautiful, cool Autumn morning for running. Completed the 5.00 miles in 50:02 for a 10:00 min/mile average pace. Sub-sonic and sluggish throughout. But, good to be back on the trail. Mahalo.

Saturday, September 24, 2016

September 24, 2016

0800 hrs. Slept in a bit and let the sunlight hit the olive oil prior to heading out. Campus loop. Temps remain manageable and almost cool enough to enjoy: 70 degrees fahrenheit (21 degrees Centigrade) with a brutal 95% humidity. The sun was out in full-force at eight bells. Extended the route a bit for shits and giggles. Completed the 6.64 miles in 1:08:25 for a sub-sonic 10:19 min/mile average pace. Slow and Low that is the tempo...
Turned in 20.79 miles on four quality runs this week. Mahalo.

Friday, September 23, 2016

September 23, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Solid run through familiar environs. First run of Autumn, 2016.  Smooth and luxurious from start to finish. Awoke to very Autumn-like conditions: 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) and 85% humidity. Completed the 5.03 miles in 49:22 for a slowish 9:49 min/ mile average pace. Mahalo.

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

September 21, 2016

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

September 19, 2016

0540 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Took a three-day respite and blew off the weekend run. Back out on the trail this Monday to initiate another week of quality runs. The weather has reverted back to late summer heat and humidity: 74 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Centigrade) and 95% humidity. Completed the 5.10 miles in 50:30 for a sub-sonic 9:54 min/mile pace. Solid pace. Cool weather allegedly arrives next week. Mahalo.

Thursday, September 15, 2016

September 15, 2016

0540 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Beautiful weather for a pre-dawn run through familiar environs. Autumn looms. 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Centigrade) with 85% humidity and a slight North breeze. Completed the 5.12 miles in 48:43 for a 9:31 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Monday, September 12, 2016

September 12, 2016

0540 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Cool temps prevail. Hit the road to a lovely 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Centigrade) with 80% humidity and a slight North breeze. Cut through campus and shortened the route a bit. Completed the 4.55 miles in 44:10 for an average pace of 9:42 min/mile. Smooth from beginning to end. Mahalo.

Saturday, September 10, 2016

September 10, 2016

0730 hrs. Game Day. Campus Loop. Inaugurating another year of OU football with the first home game of the season. Not as many professional tailgaters out this morning. Perhaps the initial loss at Houston, the late afternoon kickoff time (1800 hrs) or the lack of competition with Louisiana Monroe (+46) coming to town is the culprit, but the scene on campus was relatively calm by OU standards. Ohio State brings it next weekend and the vibe will no doubt be proper. Hit the road to cool, Autumn-like temps: 63 degrees Fahrenheit (17 Centigrade) and 90% humidity. Beautiful, post-thunderstorm bliss. Completed the 6.25 miles in 1:01:18 for a 9:49 average pace. No complaints. For the week: 16.48 miles on three runs. Sunday respite. Mahalo.

September 9, 2016

0530 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Hit the road to hot and humid conditions: 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Centigrade) with a lovely 100% humidity. Poached the bathroom at Reeves Park due to undeniable Bowel-Related Issues (BRIs). Proud moment. Took care of business and finished the run tranquilo. Completed the 5.15 miles in 50:51 for a sub-sonic  9:52 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Monday, September 5, 2016

September 5, 2016

0700 hrs. Daylight run. Campus Loop. 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Centigrade) with 95% humidity at the onset of this morning's run. Headed out to quiet, deserted streets due to the Labor Day holiday. Finished the go-to campus loop in hot, muggy conditions. Cooler temps on the horizon, but Summer, 2016 is definitely lingering. Completed the 5.08 miles in 50:35 for a 9:58 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, September 3, 2016

September 3, 2016

0730 hrs. Mid-Morning Run. Back to Back. Track work. Temp was a manageable 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Centigrade), while the humidity was 90%.  Planned on getting a six-mile campus loop in the books; however, changed my mind as I was running by Norman High and saw that the track was open. It's a beautiful Tartan track that is reminiscent of the Villa Olimpica in Tegucigalpa. So instead of working my way through the campus environs, I took care of business on the track. Completed 6.72 miles in 1:05:58 for a 9:49 min/mile pace. Ended the week with 20.20 miles on four solid runs. Sunday off. The vibe is proper. Mahalo.

Friday, September 2, 2016

September 2, 2016

0545 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Abbreviated Campus Loop to inaugurate another month of running. A veritable Autumn morning with the temp a manageable 66 degrees Fahrenheit (19 Centigrade) and 90% humidity. Monday, August 29, 2016

August 29, 2016

0535 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Comfortable temp (72 degrees Fahrenheit, 22 Centigrade) with high humidity (90%) as I headed out for a solid Monday morning run. Completed the 5.06 miles in 49:53 for a 9:51 min/mile pace.  Felt good from beginning to end. Mahalo.

Sunday, August 28, 2016

August 27, 2016

0800 hrs. A rare back-to-back. Late start. "could have been the Willie Nelson, could have been the wine..." Out the door around the crack of eight, which, for this runner, is a bit late and a bit too bright outside. Temp (75 degrees fahrenheit, 24 degrees Celsius) and high humidity (95%) coupled to make this a hot, humid affair.  Severely hung over after a couple of bottles of Pinot Noir the night before, I hit the trail with diminished expectations and a throbbing headache. Fully intending to go for a "long run," I decided at the mile four water stop that for longevity purposes it would be best to cut things short and head to the shack.  Completed the 5.56 miles in a wine-soaked 58:12 for an average pace of 10:28 min/mile. 19.08 miles on four runs this week. Sunday off. Mahalo.

Friday, August 26, 2016

August 26, 2016

0550 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Abridged edition. Hit the proverbial trail a bit later than usual in order to get a short three-miler in the books. Temp (70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 Centigrade) and humidity (85%) were manageable from start to finish. Completed the 3.35 miles in 31:27 for an average pace of 9:23 min/mile. Should be fine for a planned long run tomorrow, Saturday.  Doubling up in an effort to increase frequency and mileage in a responsible manner. Word.  Mahalo.

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

August 24, 2016

0530 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Hot and humid conditions returned (74 degrees Fahrenheit, 23 degrees Centigrade with 90% humidity).  Solid from the start and then hit a lull around the mile three water stop. "Well the taxi driver liked his rhythm, never liked the stops..." Regained my composure and finished relatively strong. Completed the well-worn 5.04 miles in 48:40 for a 9:40 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Monday, August 22, 2016

August 22, 2016

0530 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. First day of classes for the fall semester, so the campus had a bit more energy this morning. Out of nowhere the temp dropped over 20-degrees from Saturday's AM run. Hit the pavement with temps in the high-50s (57 degrees Fahrenheit, 14 Centigrade) with 100% humidity and a sight breeze from the North. Absolutely beautiful conditions to initiate another week of runs.  Completed the standard 5.13 miles (8.25 km) in an uneventful 50:01 for a 9:45 min/mile pace. Finished strong. Mahalo.

Saturday, August 20, 2016

August 20, 2016

0745 hrs. Morning run around the campus. Waited until the rainstorms had passed before heading out to overcast skies, negative ion-enriched air and the primordial smell of tierra mojada. Temps in the high-60s (67 degrees Fahrenheit, 19 degrees Celsius) with over 90% relative humidity.  Solid from beginning to end. Headed South and crossed the Highway 9 boundary, looped around the Municipal Works Plant and then trekked North through the University. Stopped for water around mile four. Completed the 7.32 miles (11.7 km) in 1:14:40 for a sub-sonic 10:14 min/mile average pace.  Finished the week with 17.80 miles on three good runs. Mahalo.

Thursday, August 18, 2016

August 18, 2016

0530 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Temps back up in the 70s this morning (73 degrees Fahrenheit, 23 degrees Centigrade) with a relative humidity of 90%. Hot and humid conditions with a slight, intermittent breeze from the South. Solid start and a decent finish in spite of the muggy conditions and the lingering effects of too much tequila from the night before. Completed the 5.35 miles in 50:57 for a 9:32 min/mile average pace. Fastest splits in months. Mahalo.

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

August 16, 2016

0530 hrs. Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another week of running inaugurated this morning. Hit the road with temps in the mid-60s (64 degrees Fahrenheit, 18 degrees Celsius) and a respectable 90% humidity. A mere 15 degrees cooler than the previous weeks' temps. Felt like early October out there today. Blazed past the water stop at mile three and took it straight to the shack sans H2O. Started strong and finished with a solid effort. Completed the 5.13 miles in 49:53 for a 9:43 min/mile pace, which was my fastest pace since June 9th. Mahalo.

Sunday, August 14, 2016

August 12, 2016

Dawn Patrol.  Campus Loop. A rare back-to-back to finish out the week. Abbreviated route through the campus. Completed the 4.22 mile loop in 43:14 for an average pace of 10:14 min/mile. Slow and sub-sonic effort. Three runs this week for 14.44 miles. Mahalo.

Thursday, August 11, 2016

August 11, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Well-known route through familiar environs. Temps in the upper 70s (77 degrees Fahrenheit, 25 Celsius) with 80% humidity. Started and finished strong. Same route as Monday's run, but 2:35 faster. Amazing what a couple of days off can do for one's disposition and cadence. Started a bit earlier to get a jump on the heat. Completed the 5.11 miles in 50:04 for a 9:48 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Monday, August 8, 2016

August 8, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Slow, sluggish run through familiar environs. Temp was a manageable 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Celsius) with the relative humidity hovering in the 90% range. Super muggy. Started slow and finished about the same. Completed the 5.11 miles in 52:39 for an average pace of 10:19 min/mile.

Saturday, August 6, 2016

August 6, 2016

Daylight. Campus Loop. Temperature (78 degrees Fahrenheit, 26 degrees Celsius) and humidity (90%) combined to make this morning's run uncomfortable. Headed out well after the dawn and immediately felt the error of my ways. Headed North to Robinson and then took the Legacy Trail back South to Campus. Cut over at the Lloyd Noble and finished on the Eastern edge of campus. Completed the 7.50 miles in 1:18:24 for a sub-sonic 10:27 min/mile pace. 17.72 miles logged for the week on three runs. Mahalo.

August 4, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Celsius) with 100% humidity due to passing thunderstorms that came through town about two hours before I hit the trail. Very muggy on the road this AM. Completed the 5.08 miles in 50:08 for a 9:52 min/mile pace. Strong from beginning to end. Mahalo.

Tuesday, August 2, 2016

August 2, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurating yet another month of summer running with this morning's 5.14 miles of hot and humid bliss. Stepped out to 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) with 65% humidity. Completed the 5.14 miles in 51:44 for a subsonic 10:04 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, July 30, 2016

July 30, 2016

Daylight Run. Campus Loop. Slept in a bit and hit the road with the sunlight having already kissed the olive oil. 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius) with 90% humidity and a slight breeze from the South. Extended the route past Highway 9 once again. Finished the same 7.36 mile route as last week with the exact time--1:16:38--for an average pace of 10:25 min/mile. Solid run and purposefully slow. Had 17.59 miles for the week (28.3 km) on three runs, which was about the same as last week. Finished the month of July with 13 runs. Mahalo.

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

July 27, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Continued the string of predictable, five-mile maintenance runs this AM. Temp was a relatively cool 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 Centigrade) with 85% relative humidity. It's amazing what a difference a six-degree drop in air temp makes. Finished the 5.14 miles in 50:36 for a 9:51 min/mile average pace. Felt good throughout and finished strong. Mahalo.

Monday, July 25, 2016

July 25, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Temps remain predictably warm (79 degrees Fahrenheit, 26 degrees Centigrade) with extremely high humidity (90%) in the pre-dawn hours. Completed the 5.09 mile loop in 51:51 for a 10:11 min/mile pace. A bit slow; however, I felt good from start to finish, in spite of the heat and humidity. Mahalo.

Saturday, July 23, 2016

July 23, 2016

Early morning campus loop. Daylight and 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Centigrade) with exactly no breeze and 90% humidity for today's run. Hot and humid with no relief in the near future. Started at the Boyd Street Portal and extended the route route South past Highway 9 for S and G's. Kept the pace slow and deliberate. Finished the 7.35 miles in 1:16:38 for a sub-sonic 10:26 min/mile pace. Booked 17.72 miles (29 km) for the week on three runs. Mahalo.

Friday, July 22, 2016

July 21, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Entered through the Boyd Street Portal for a foreshadowed change of pace. Living on the proverbial edge, I also blew off the scenic turnoff through Chinatown. Temps and humidity continue to be pretty heavy: 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Centigrade) with 90% relative humidity. The days are topping out above 100 degrees (38 Celsius), so I probably should not complain too much. Finished the 5.07 mile loop in 51:24 for a 10:09 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

July 19, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Temp (75 degrees Fahrenheit, 24 degrees Centigrade) and a relative humidity of 90% made it extremely warm out on the trail this morning. An almost negligible Southern breeze helped from time to time. The 5.30 miles through familiar surroundings seems to yearn for embellishment or I may just have to find a new route real soon. Completed the go-to maintenance run in 52:36 for an average pace of 9:55 min/mile. Once again had to rally late to break 10-minute/mile pace. Mahalo.

July 15, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Post-Thunderstorm Bliss. 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 Centigrade) with 70% humidity. Felt like a cool October morning out there on the trail. The cooler temps, however, did not translate to faster splits this morning. Finished the 5.30 miles in 53:16 for a 10:04 min/mile average pace. 16.07 miles (26 km) on three runs for the week. Mahalo.

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

July 13, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another warm morning run: temp was a predictable 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Centigrade) with 90% humidity. A nice Southern breeze added manageability early. First three miles were solid, and then I stopped for water and could not get my mojo back. Finished slow, sluggish and hung over. Completed the 5.31 miles in 53:53 for a sub-sonic 10:09 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Monday, July 11, 2016

July 11, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Inaugurating another week of running with a Monday morning maintenance run through familiar spaces. Out the door to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Centigrade) temp with 90% humidity; a slight Southern breeze helped cool things down a bit. Completed the 5.46 miles in 53:40 for a 9:50 min/mile average pace. Finished strong after a bit of a lull between miles three and four. Mahalo.

Saturday, July 9, 2016

July 9, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Overcast, post-thunderstorm bliss. 72 degrees (22 degrees Celsius) with 100% humidity at the onset. The cloud cover was welcomed and helped to mitigate the heat and humidity. Headed out from the Elm Street portal to the Southern campus boundary at Highway 9. Turned North and weaved through the campus and residential environs on my way to the shack. Finished the 6.32 miles in 1:03:50 for a sub-sonic 10:06 min/mile average pace. A strong finish cut a few seconds off the final tally. 16.98 miles (27.3 km) for the week on three solid runs. Mahalo.

Thursday, July 7, 2016

July 7, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another exceptionally warm start to the day. Temp (75 degrees Fahrenheit, 24 Celsius) and 80% humidity once again combine for hot and humid conditions. Met resistance around mile four, but kept pace and finished (barely) under the ten-minute per mile pace. Completed the 5.35 miles in 53:00 minutes for a 9:54 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

July 5, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. High heat (75 degrees Fahrenheit, 24 Celsius) coupled with 90% humidity made for sweltering conditions out on the trail this morning. First couple of miles were solid; however, I hit the proverbial wall at the mile three water stop and cratered from there. My sub-ten minute per mile pace evaporated and I finished slow and sluggish. Completed the predictable 5.31 miles in an underwhelming 54.11 for a 10:12 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Monday, July 4, 2016

July 2, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Warm conditions (72 degrees Fahrenheit, 22 Celsius) with 90% humidity was tempered by overcast skies. Slow and low from beginning to end. Completed the 5.61 mile loop in 57:37 for an underperforming 10:17 min/mile pace. Finished the week with 16.09 miles on three runs. Mahalo.

Thursday, June 30, 2016

June 30, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus loop. Temps in the low 70s (70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 Celsius) with 90% humidity. Another hot and humid early morning run, although much more bearable due to a nice cloud cover. Entered through the Elm Street portal and took it from there. Completed the 5.64 miles in 55:12 for a 9:48 min/mile average pace. Solid run. Mahalo.

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

June 28, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Post-Thunderstorm Bliss. Brutal humidity (100%) and temps in the mid-70s (75 Fahrenheit, 24 Celsius) as I headed out this morning for my go-to Tuesday maintenance run. Competed the 4.84 miles in a pedestrian 48:16 for a 9:58 min/mile pace. Had to rally to get things under the ten-minute mile pace. Hot and humid conditions persist with no change in the foreseeable future. Mahalo.

Saturday, June 25, 2016

June 25, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Weekend Edition. Extended Campus Loop. Changed the route for shits and giggles. Took Main Street to Porter Street and headed South for a bit. Cut over to the campus environs and then took Jenkins South to the campus boundary. Returned to the shack through the South Greek and main campus. Once again there was no change on the weather front: 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Celsius) with 85% relative humidity. Soaked ten-minutes into the run. Purposefully slowed the pace, and finished strong. Completed the 6.80 miles in 1:09:20 for an average pace of 10:12 min/mile. Rocked the Spartacus Redux Mix on the box for the first time in a while. Closed out the week with 17.24 miles (27.74 km) on three runs. Mahalo.

Thursday, June 23, 2016

June 23, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. 75 degrees Fahrenheit, 24 degrees Celsius with 90% humidity. Soaking wet one-mile into this morning's run. A slight breeze from the South helped...a bit. No surprises: another solid run from beginning to end. Continuing to finish strong, i.e., below pace for the last mile. Finished the 4.85 miles in 47:51 for a 9:53 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

June 21, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another hot and humid early morning run: temps a manageable 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 Celsius) with 85% humidity. Started at a nice 10:00 min/mile pace and finished a bit under after it was all said and done. Tweaked the embarkation point a bit and will likely stay with the Elm Street portal for the summer. Completed the 5.59 mile campus loop in 54:42 for a 9:48 min/mile average pace. Finished strong, even as the heat and humidity bore down on me. H2O stop at Reeves provided a nice respite. Mahalo.

Saturday, June 18, 2016

June 18, 2016

Early morning campus loop. Awoke to temps in the high 70s (77 degrees Fahrenheit, 25 Celsius) with 75% humidity. It was a bit overcast, which, coupled with a slight North breeze, made the run much more bearable. Headed South to the Highway 9 boundary and then up the East side of campus to the shack. Finished the 6.28 mile loop in a slowish 1:05:36 for a 10:27 min/mile pace. Times and splits have slowed considerably since the summer heat arrived. Mahalo.

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

June 15, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Hit the road to extremely warm and humid conditions, this time with the sun having yet to hit the olive oil. Temp was a balmy 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius) with 100% humidity. Tweaked the route a bit to get a water stop in around mile three. Finished the 5.52 miles in a sluggish 55:42 for a 10:05 min/mile average pace. Runkeeper informed me it was my 299th fastest five-mile run. Proud. Overall, felt good in the beginning and then eventually slowed due to the heat and humidity. Will squeeze two runs in before Sunday. Mahalo.

Saturday, June 11, 2016

June 11, 2016

Early morning sushi-fueled campus loop. Out the door a bit later than usual in a futile attempt to sleep off the multitude of Asahi's I downed last night. Temp was a very warm 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius) with 80% humidity. Started strong and then the heat took over. Water stops are open again, which probably saved my life. Completed the 5.44 miles (8.75 kilometers) in 57:30 for a sub-sonic 10:34 min/mile average pace. Ended the week with 14 miles on three runs. Heat continues to build this week. Mahalo.

Thursday, June 9, 2016

June 9, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another late Spring morning run. Temps continue to rise: today it was a humid (90%) 66 degrees Fahrenheit (19 Celsius) at 545 am. Completed the 4.31 mile loop in 41:41 for a 9:40 min/mile average pace. Splits were fairly consistent and I finished strong. Shaved a minute and 22 seconds off of Tuesday's time. Slowly getting my groove back. Mahalo.

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

June 7, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Two-week respite related to travel and debauchery and thankfully not to any health or injury concerns. Back in the game and feeling great! Hit the road this AM at the appointed hour to temps in the mid 60s (63 degrees Fahrenheit, 17 Celsius) with 85% humidity. Solid effort from beginning to end: although I started strong, I had to hustle to break the 10:00 min/mile threshold. Completed the 4.31 miles in an underwhelming 43:02 for a 9:59 min/mile average pace. The heat and humidity of Oklahoma's summer is finally upon us. Will gradually build miles to get my mojo back. Mahalo.

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

May 24, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Patchy drizzle. Hot (72 degrees Fahrenheit, 22 Celsius) with 100% humidity. Started strong and slowed a bit at about mile three, but nothing too extreme. Finished the 5.00 miles in 48:47 for a 9:45 min/mile pace. Reversed the loop and headed out on the Eastern flank for a change of pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, May 21, 2016

May 21, 2016

Day light. Campus Loop. Temp was a manageable 60 degrees Fahrenheit (16 Celsius), but the 100 % humidity sucked the life out of me. Blew off Thursday's planned six due to the overwhelming desire to sleep another hour. Proud. Which, in turn, dropped my weekly mileage to 10.65 on two runs. Started today's run strong as I headed South on the Western edge of campus to the Highway 9 boundary. Cut across to Jenkins and then to the Northern perimeter by way of graduate housing, the aquatic center and the stadium. Ended at the famous Boyd Street portal. Completed the 5.66 miles in 57:27 for a 10:10 min/mile pace. Last mile and a half was slow and sluggish. May or may not have been due to the bottle of Pinot I drank last night. Focused on cadence and breathing. Sunday off and hoping for three good runs next week. Mahalo.

Wednesday, May 18, 2016

May 18, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus loop. Awoke to a cool 52 degrees Fahrenheit (11 Celsius) with a slight breeze from the North.  Back out on the road after a couple of days of weather-related delays. Solid from the outset, although slowed a bit around mile four. Finished the 5.00 miles in 48:47 for a 9:45 min/mile pace.  Other than almost getting run over by an idiot running a stop sign, it was an uneventful morning workout.  Be safe out there gente. Mahalo.

Saturday, May 14, 2016

May 14, 2016

Daylight campus loop. Graduation Day, 2016. Cold runnings: temp was officially listed at 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius), but the 25 mph wind from the North made it feel much colder. Never found my groove this morning. Mile splits continued to increase and times got worse as the miles went by. Ended up finishing the 5.65 miles in an underwhelming 1:00:28 for a subsonic 10:46 min/mile pace. Finished the week with three runs and 14 miles (-2.40 miles from the previous week). Upcoming schedule: 5-5-4-8. Mahalo.

May 12, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus loop. Mirrored Tuesday's run and managed to slice a few seconds off the final time. Weather was coolish: temps in the low 50s with a slight breeze from the West. Storms throughout the night meant I was dodging slick spots, puddles and mud. Finished the 4.31 miles in 41:38 for a 9:39 min/mile average pace. No complaints. Mahalo.

May 10, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Expedited campus loop. Temps in the low 60s with a slight breeze from the South. Finished the 4.30 miles in 42:04 for a 9:47 min/mile average pace. Solid effort: started relatively slow, but finished strong. Mahalo.

Saturday, May 7, 2016

May 7, 2016

Another rare daylight run. Campus loop. Temps a lovely 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 Celsius) with a slight breeze from the South. Started relatively strong, hit a lull and then finished with purpose to get below a ten-minute per mile pace. Headed South to the Highway 9 boundary and then back North through campus and residential environs. Finished the 6.38 miles in 1:03:31 for a 9:58 min/mile average pace. 16.40 miles for the week. The grind continues on Monday. Mahalo.

Thursday, May 5, 2016

May 5, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Temp was a cool 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 Celsius) with a slight Southern breeze. Started relatively strong and on top of things, and then slowed down considerably in the last mile. Completed the 5.01 miles in 49:35 for a 9:54 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Sunday, May 1, 2016

May 1, 2016

May Day. Started the month of April with good intentions only to be upended with upper respiratory issues and a nagging cough. Back out on the trail after a solitary run this week. Hoping the month of May is more productive for this runner. Embarked on yet another Campus Loop after the sun had already hit the olive oil. Cool and luxurious: 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4 Celsius) with a slight North breeze with which to contend. Completed the 5.01 miles in 49:42 for a 9:55 min/mile pace. Looks like this week's weather will be very conducive to running. Mahalo.

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

April 26, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Out the door at the appointed hour to 72 degrees (22 Celsius) and 100% humidity. Back in the game after a ten-day respite due to an upper respiratory infection that knocked me down for a bit. Finished the 4.02 miles in a slow and sluggish 41:31 for a 10:20 min/mile average pace. Slow and Low. Depleted at the end, as the heat and humidity were pretty relevant. Mahalo.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

April 13, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Rainy Campus Loop. Awoke to constant drizzle and a slight breeze from the South. Temp a manageable 54 degrees (12 Celsius). Out the door in spite of the conditions for a solid 5.27 miles. The thought of not running did not cross my mind. Bonus points for still being a fiend after all of these years. Completed the go-to campus loop in 51:59 for a 9:52 min/mile average pace. Strong, water-logged finish. Mahalo.

Monday, April 11, 2016

April 11, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Missed the Hash Bud 2016 10K yesterday. The Doctor and I postponed our annual rendezvous due to scheduling conflicts and the like. Promised to renew our bond on the Reunion Tour 2017. I digress. Hit the pavement this morning to find the streets nicely cleansed from overnight storms. Post-Thunderstorm negative ions in the air. Blissful running. Completed the 4.31 mile campus loop in 42:33 for a 9:53 min/mile average pace. On a side note: The heart rate monitor on the Fitbit HR is just what a junkie like me needs. Really helps set the pace and keeps me from wallowing in complacency. Mahalo.

Saturday, April 9, 2016

April 9, 2016

Day Lit Campus Loop. Slept in a bit and hit the road well into the morning hours. Temp was a cool 49 degrees (9 Celsius) with no wind. Absolutely perfect running conditions. The hop heads and football junkies were out in force, getting ready for the annual Spring Game here in Norman. Headed South through the South Greek to the Highway 9 perimeter, over to the Eastern approach and then back to the shack through the residential environs. Many folks out on the trail this morning: Slow walkers, unmedicated Yuppies, ROTC Nazis and those imbued with the Fear. Solid run from the start. Finished the 6.38 miles in 1:02:10 for a 9:45 min/mile pace. Ran 22 miles for the week. Not bad. Mahalo.

Thursday, April 7, 2016

April 7, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Hit the pavement in the pre-dawn hours for an expedited maintenance run. The Boyd Street Portal (see below) is a classic embarkation point for the campus loop. On the perimeter of campus, this intersection is busy pretty much all day long. Not much traffic at 530 am, though. This morning was beautiful: temp a manageable 52 degrees (11 Celsius) with a slight breeze from the West. Solid run from beginning to end. Finished the 4.31 miles in 42:15 for a 9:48 min/mile pace. Absolutely no complaints. Mahalo.

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

April 5, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Excellent, albeit windy, weather continues to be a hallmark of this Spring's running season. Hit the trail to 58 degrees Fahrenheit (14 Celsius) with a substantial Southern breeze ladened with pollen, dust and flying debris, which pounded my eyes in unrelenting waves of fear and loathing. I felt heavy and sluggish from the onset (generally a lethal combination). I never seemed to find a solid groove and my splits confirmed this: finished the 6.01 miles in an underwhelming 1:00:45 for a 10:07 min/mile average pace. Slow and Low that is the tempo. Another 10k planned for Thursday. Mahalo.

Sunday, April 3, 2016

April 3, 2016

Day lit campus loop. Out the door well after the sunlight hit the olive oil. Finished the 5.25 mile run in 52:10 for a 9:57 min/mile pace. Beautiful, cool Spring morning: 42 degrees Fahrenheit (6 degrees Celsius) and calm. Mahalo.

Thursday, March 31, 2016

March 31, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Last run of March, 2016. Started back on March 15th and finished the month with six runs. (Two runs in February, Ten in January) Feels good to get back in the groove. Cool runnings with 53 degree temp (11 Celsius) and a slight North breeze. Completed the uneventful 4.32 miles in 42:52 for a 9:56 min/mile pace. No complaints. Weather looks good for next week. Mahalo.

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

March 29, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another low-key maintenance run in the pre-dawn hours. Weather remains comfortable, consistent and predictable: 52 degrees (11 Celsius) with a gusty South breeze (10-15 mph). Springtime on the plains. Finished the 4.67 miles in a pedestrian 46:12 for a 9:53 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, March 26, 2016

March 26, 2016

Early Saturday morning. Sunlight had already hit the olive oil. Solid campus loop. Finished the five mile maintenance run in 49:44 for a 9:56 min/mile pace. Another 50 degree (10 Celsius) morning with a brisk South wind with which to contend. My legs and lungs have returned. Will add a run to next week's schedule. Mahalo.

March 22, 2016

Dawn Patrol. 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius) with a brutal South wind. Finished the 4.75 mile campus loop in 47:17 for a 9:57 min/mile average pace.  Purposefully taking my time getting back to 20-25 miles per week, as experience has informed my decision-making process. Mahalo.

Thursday, March 17, 2016

March 17, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Temp (52 degrees Fahrenheit, 11 degrees Celsius) and lack of wind made for another great morning of running. Hit the trail in a concerted effort to recreate Tuesday's route, yet ended up .10 of a mile long. Close enough. Finished the 4.44 mile campus run in a sub-sonic 43:41 for a 9:50 min/mile pace. Good times. Mahalo.

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

March 15, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Back in the game after a six-week hiatus. Felt good to get back out on the road again. Spring and Summer running season officially began today with an easy 4.32 mile loop around the campus. Finished in 44:25 for a 10:18 min/mile average pace. Temp (52 degrees Fahrenheit, 11 Celsius) and a slight breeze from the South combined for awesome running conditions. Inaugurated the Fitbit Charge HR this week, as well. Mahalo.

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

February 16, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Sleep-deprived and slightly hung over is a lethal combination when it comes to completing a five-mile run in the pre-dawn hours. Hit the trail to unseasonably warm weather (57 degrees Fahrenheit, 14 Celsius) and a solid North wind. Completed the 5.24 miles in a slow and sluggish 54:36 for an underwhelming 10:26 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

February 2, 2016

Early morning Campus Loop. A rare sunlit journey around campus. Temps were a manageable 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 Celsius), but the wind was calm and the sun was out. Lithium Mix on the box. Headed down the Eastern slope to the Highway 9 boundary and then back North. Hitting the trail well past 930 am meant that there were students to deal with on the campus streets and sidewalks. Interesting dynamic, especially where running on the road is concerned. Overall, it was a nice change of pace and the weather was excellent. Finished the 6.07 campus loop in 1:00:25 for an underwhelming 9:57 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

January 26, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Frigid campus loop. Hit the proverbial trail with temps well below freezing (27 Fahrenheit, -3 Celsius) and a slight breeze out of the West. Started a bit "faster" than normal and somehow managed to maintain a sub-10 min/mile pace for the duration. Felt good about the pace until Runkeeper informed me it was my 206th fastest five-mile run. Proud. Completed the 5:02 mile loop in a frozen 49:18 for a blistering 9:50 min/mile pace. Mahalo.

Sunday, January 24, 2016

January 24, 2016

Daybreak. Windy campus loop around familiar territory. Headed South to the Highway 9 boundary, over to Jenkins and then back to the shack through campus environs. The South wind was absolutely brutal: 25 mph (40 kph) which made the 33 degrees Fahrenheit (1 Celsius) feel like 22 (-6 Celsius). Layered up for the elements with the Lithium playlist on the box. Finished the 5.80 miles in a wind-blown 58:55 for a 10:09 min/mile average pace. Mahalo.

Thursday, January 21, 2016

January 21, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Frozen Fog. Temp was below freezing yet again this morning. Hit the road to frozen fog and a slight breeze from the South. Completed the 5.00 miles in 50:06 for an average pace of 10:01 min/mile. Headed back to the Reverse Loop and may keep the Eastern approach going for the near term. Inaugurated a new pair of New Balance 1260V5s. Mahalo.

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

January 19, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Frigid wind out of the south (20 mph, 32 kph) made the 30 degrees Fahrenheit feel like 13 degrees (-10 Celsius). Layered up and hit the trail after taking a couple of days off to recuperate. Finished the 5.01 miles in a chilly 49:49 for a 9:57 average min/mile pace. No issues or complaints. Solid run: sub-10:00 min/mile pace. Reversed the loop for a change of pace. Mahalo.

Saturday, January 16, 2016

January 16, 2016

Early Morning Campus Loop. Hit the trail to frigid conditions: 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) with a strong North wind (20 mph, 32 kph) that made it feel much colder. Extended the default campus loop to the Southern boundary, past the Municipal Works Facility and North to Legacy Trail. Finished the 8.85 miles in a deliberate 1:34:49 for a 10:43 min/mile average pace. Week Summary: 19 miles and two gym days. Solid. More of the same looms for next week. Sunday off to recuperate and recharge. Mahalo.

Friday, January 15, 2016

January 14, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Completed a 5.01 mile early morning run in 52:39 for a super-slow 10:31 min/mile pace. "Could have been the Willie Nelson, could have been the wine," regardless, I was very slow and sluggish from the first steps onward. Temps hovered around freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit, 0 degrees Celsius) with a very manageable breeze from the South. Friday to the gym. Saturday precipitation imminent. Undeterred, a long-run is planned. Mahalo.

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

January 11, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another frigid morning (22 degrees Fahrenheit, -6 degrees Celsius) to begin the week. Finished the 5.02 miles in a sub-sonic 51:29 for a slow 10:16 min/mile pace. Poached a nice, clean, heated bathroom on the University of Oklahoma campus due to an inescapable bowel-related issue (BRI). It was, quite simply, a life-saver. Goals for the week: three runs, including a 10-mile long run and two gym days for shits and giggles. Winter precipitation looms. Mahalo.

January 8, 2015

Dawn Patrol. Campus Loop. Another cold morning: temp hovering at freezing with a negligible wind. Out the door at the appointed hour for another go-to maintenance run. Completed the 5.30 miles in 53:57 for an average pace of 10:11 miles/min. Completed three runs for the week (14 miles) and two gym workouts. Mahalo.

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

January 6, 2015

Temps below freezing with a slight South breeze to keep things interesting at the onset. Finished the 4.18 mile campus loop in 41:12 for a slowish 9:51 min/mile pace. Solid. Mahalo.

January 4, 2016

Dawn Patrol. Inaugural run of 2016--the first of 160-175 planned runs for the year. Cold and calm. Temp (32 degrees Fahrenheit, 0 degrees Celsius) with a slight breeze from the North. Hit the pavement before the dawn. Completed the 5.63 go-to maintenance run in a sub-sonic 56:07 for a 9:58 min/mile pace. Solid out there out on the trail. Layered up to the hilt. Gym on Tuesday: Chest and Tri workout. Mahalo.
