August 27, 2016

0800 hrs. A rare back-to-back. Late start. "could have been the Willie Nelson, could have been the wine..." Out the door around the crack of eight, which, for this runner, is a bit late and a bit too bright outside. Temp (75 degrees fahrenheit, 24 degrees Celsius) and high humidity (95%) coupled to make this a hot, humid affair.  Severely hung over after a couple of bottles of Pinot Noir the night before, I hit the trail with diminished expectations and a throbbing headache. Fully intending to go for a "long run," I decided at the mile four water stop that for longevity purposes it would be best to cut things short and head to the shack.  Completed the 5.56 miles in a wine-soaked 58:12 for an average pace of 10:28 min/mile. 19.08 miles on four runs this week. Sunday off. Mahalo.
